**Principal Hydrologist - Water Environment**

This has led to a healthy future order book with several longer-term projects within the energy infrastructure and sectors.

We are currently seeking like-minded individuals to contribute to Gavia’s growing portfolio of renewable energy and linear infrastructure projects. As such we would like to employ a Principal Hydrologist - Water Environment to help further develop and expand our capabilities.

**Location**

**Essential knowledge & experience**

To be successful in this role, we expect you would have:

- 7+ years of demonstratable industry experience within flood risk management and/or sustainable drainage. Experience with hydrology, hydrogeology or water-based engineering would be advantageous.
- A full member of (or working towards membership of) a relevant professional body.
- A working understanding of the planning process and flood risk/drainage policy across the UK, including previous experience with undertaking consultations with key stakeholders (such as SEPA, EA, LLFAs and IDBs).
- Proficient in the production of Flood Risk Assessments/Drainage Impact Assessments and water environment EIA technical appendices.
- Experience in fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling using industry standard software (Flood Modeller, Tuflow and Hec-RAS) and/or experience in drainage design and modelling using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Infodrainage.
- Experience in processing, analysing and creating mapping using QGIS.
- Previous experience within fee proposal and tender preparation, quality assurance and project management.
- A full driving licence valid in the UK.

**Salary & benefits**

For a small SME, Gavia is able to offer an attractive salary in the range of £42,500 - £51,500 per annum (based on 40 hours per week) along with other core benefits, including profit share scheme, 25 days of holiday, Scottish Bank Holidays regardless of location (1 extra relative to UK Bank Holidays), private medical insurance, company pension scheme, paid annual professional membership renewal, IT discounts, provision of all site PPE, as well as, waterproof, windproof and thermal tactical outdoor clothing and boots.

**Additional information**

For this role, you must have evidence of the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a relocation package with this position.
