Garden Supervisor

Coventry University is recruiting a Gardens Supervisor, predominantly based at the University’s site at Ryton Organic in Warwickshire.
The grounds have organic status with the Soil Association and comprise a number of interesting themed gardens, as well as vegetable gardens, specimen trees, fruit, large conservation area and woodland.
We require a passionate, hands-on hardworking horticulturalist with experience of gardening at a professional level, excellent and varied plant knowledge, a team player who can supervise staff to high horticultural standards and a good communicator, both written and verbal.
**Key Skills, Responsibilities and Attributes**
- Create a great environment to build and develop your team, currently comprising full time gardener and apprentice with support from the wider Grounds team.
- Devise, plan and deliver agreed planting and maintenance programme to develop the grounds and gardens.
- Significant practical horticultural experience supported by appropriate qualifications.
- Knowledge of range of horticultural techniques covering wide range of plant types and trees including fruit trees.
- Have a practical knowledge of garden machinery operation and maintenance.
- Qualified NPTC for tractor, trailer, loader, chainsaw qualification would be helpful, although formal training opportunities are available.
- Assist in the development of volunteer opportunities and student engagement programme to share your expertise.
- Work collaboratively with the wider University Grounds team, academics, assisting the delivery of horticultural courses and partners.
- Knowledge of health, safety and compliance relating to horticulture.
- A full, clean UK driving licence is required.
