Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide an excellent standard of care and education for children aged from birth to four years of age. To help create a happy, nurturing and educational setting where children can thrive and develop confidently. To work in partnership with all employees and parents to ensure that every child’s needs are met and that our standards are kept high in all areas.

Main Duties & Professional Responsibilities:

- Be professional and respectful at all times
- To follow and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all procedures and policies
- To always put the child at the centre of everything you do
- When with the children to remain focused on the activities and put their needs first
- To maintain children’s assessment folders through observation, tracking and discussions with parents/carers.
- Be responsible for a key group of children, bearing in mind the individual developmental needs of each child and to communicate effectively with the room leader and parents regarding these children and their needs
- To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy setting
- To maintain confidentiality at all times
- Assisting children with activities and basic needs e.g. nappy changing, bottle preparation, toilet training etc.
- To positively manage children’s behaviour
- To assist with planning and evaluation for the children in the absence of the room Supervisor
- To assist with any admin aspects of running the setting, as and when required
- To work with other staff and management of the setting in fulfilling the aims set out in our policies and procedures
- To be consistently looking for ways in which the setting could be improved, and be adaptable and supportive of changes, helping to create a thriving environment dedicated to improving standards
- To keep abreast of current developments in childcare and early years education, via reading and training opportunities
- To work with other staff members at all times as part of a team, to achieve the best outcomes for both staff and children
