Transport Supervisor

Do you have experience of supervising a transport department and a team of drivers? Are you a strong transport planner? Currently seeking a new challenge where you can be part of a high performing team who deliver great service to our customers in the mostcost-effective solution possible? We have the role for you. within our DFDS Logistics operation based out of Wisbech, running the day shift team, we work on behalf of a major frozen food retailer with close links to other DFDS sites and contracts based throughthe UK.

Working 5 days from 7 each week, the role itself will be varied but there will be a focus on managing the daily performance within the site and ensuring excellent service to our customers. On a day-to-day basis, we need you to assist other team members inproblem solving, carrying out root cause analysis and driving improvements, remaining in control of the costs. It will be key that you build and develop strong relationships with driver agencies ensuring we have a network of drivers that can fulfil our customers’needs, as well as a relationship with the Planning Control Tower to make sure we continuously improve, getting better every day.

We need you to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as you will be involved in driver recruitment and direct communication with our customers, listening to their needs, along with the pre-brief and de-brief of drivers to ensure theyunderstand their requirements for the day. This means the team can act on any issues they find whilst carrying out the job. Naturally, administration will be a key part of the role, as you will be needed to review and produce KPI and other data, looking forimprovements in service and/or costs within the business. Ensuring audit performance set against regulatory, legislative, and business requirements are maintained and completed.

It’s a fantastic role for you to showcase your skills and the diversity of the work involved in when supervising and running a successful transport department. You will need to have good IT skills covering Microsoft packages and ability to understand externalsystems such as Tachomaster, in turn developing an understanding of DFDS IT systems such as Velocity & Mandate. Working closely with the Transport Manager at Wisbech and the Operations Manager for the Region, we’ll require you to be reactive to the needs ofthe business, flexing what the priorities are on any given day. Having your CPC would be beneficial for this role.
