This role forms part of the Medical Escalation Ward Team. This is a substantive team that will be available to staff additional capacity within the Medical and Emergency Care division. When additional capacity is not required, members of this team will be redeployed, within the division, following discussion with the individual to ensure the needs of the division and the staff member are fulfilled. The release of this staff member to establish additional medical capacity, at short notice, will be supported by the Divisional Leadership Team.

The post
- holder is accountable for providing motivational clinical leadership to the ward, ensuring exceptional quality standards of safe care are delivered. The Ward Leader is expected to promote consistent, safe, effective, well led and responsive quality care and working practices in the department, ensuring that staff receive the appropriate leadership, support, appraisal and continued professional development.

The Band 7 role requires an individual with resilience, drive and passion for maintaining effective communication and supporting staff of all levels in the delivery of high quality, safe and effective patient care. You will be an effective communicator and have the vision to proactively manage this exciting nursing team.

- Providing and promoting excellent patient care
- Multi disciplinary team work
- Provide effective communication and act as an integral source of information
- Contribute to both clinical and operational management
- Effective management of ward budget, environment and human resources

The successful applicant will have good clinical knowledge and must be flexible as the role will require out of hours and weekend working. They will also have experience in management responsibilities, including managing sickness absence, HR issues, E-Roster, safe staffing, staff appraisals, and complaints as well as day to day operational overview of the ward.
