**Description**

Duties and tasks of the Accounts Assistant:

- Create new customer accounts and approving invoices and payments
- Reconcile supplier statements and ensure multiple accounts are kept up to date
- Ensuring all general ledger functions are complete and reconciled correctly
- Processing BACS payments
- Working with local authorities and councils to ensure payments and terms of business are correct
- Monitoring the banking and income from accounts ensuring have been paid correctly and on time
- Ensuring any overdue debts are managed and a new payment date has been agreed
- Dealing with any escalations for non payment and processing for legal action and required
- Enable production of management information including KPIs, budgets and forecast plans
- Support the annual budget setting and investigating variances with explanations
- Support statutory accounts producing and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare journals to be reviewed by senior accountants

**Profile**

To be successful in the role as the Accounts Assistant you will have:

- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to spot discrepancies
- Understanding of debits and credits, and practical experience in general sales and purchase ledger
- Professional qualifications towards AAT studies or demonstrable experience to AAT Level 4
