**Job Purpose**

The HR manager provides a comprehensive HR service which ensures that managers and employees are equipped with best practice to foster a high-performance culture. This is a hands on, standalone role and the HR Manager will be required to assist with themanagement of the overall HR operations and the delivery of strategic objectives.

**Primary duties and r esponsibilities**
- Own and manage the recruitment process in its entirety (review/compose job descriptions, job adverts, arrange and conduct 'phone interviews, review/compose interview questions and job tasks, arrange and conduct interviews with managers, offer job, generateall new starter documentation)
- Act as Company Data Protection officer, ensuring compliance with all UK GDPR regulations and ISO
- Responsible for employee wellbeing - mental health first aider & responsibility for coaching managers & supervisors.
- Manage one direct report, Receptionist/administrator, and cover annual leave
- Measuring employee satisfaction and identifying areas which require improvement, via the Staff survey (issued twice a year)
- End to end HR & payroll administration
- Payroll responsibilities include managing the time and attendance system, ensuring it is updated and that employee attendance is monitored daily
- Ensure all Company policies and procedures are up to date and in line with current employment law, ensure managers are up to date with any change in policy
- Manage complex employee relations including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement, and redundancy
- Advise employee’s & managers on company policy, terms and conditions of employment and knowledge, share best practice with them
- Develop HR policy and procedures to drive performance and mitigate disputes
- Conduct new starter HR inductions
- Support change management processes
- Manage employee communication
- Manage salary structure, grading system and pay reviews
- Implement and manage staff appraisal system
- Monitor & log training records alongside the QHS Manager, including booking staff on courses
- Conduct or organise internal HR based training, such as absence management, conducting investigations, and other ad hoc sessions.

**Skills & experience required**
- Proven HR generalist experience gained in a manufacturing environment or similar
- CIPD qualified or equivalent experience
- Familiar with UK employment law and GDPR requirements
- Ideally mental health first aid trained, or willing to become trained
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills at all levels with numerous stakeholders
- Confident in using excel, particularly as an employee database.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy
- Self-motivated and able to work under own autonomy and part of the management team
- Experience of with Payroll advantageous
- Flexible hours available.
