The city centre cleansing operative role is varied and our service provides a reliable and efficient street cleansing and grounds maintenance service to the residents, businesses and visitors of the city.

Hours of work are 74 hours over a two week shift pattern including alternate weekends.

Week 1: Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun - 11 hours per day

Week 2: Wed, Thurs, Fri - 10 hours per day

Tasks primarily involve the emptying of litter and dog bins, litter picking and other cleaning tasks through both manual and mechanical means. Other tasks include some horticultural maintenance works such as hedge trimming, pruning, weed control, leafing and all associated general gardening tasks.

Our teams are also responsible for rapid response to unscheduled cleansing and horticultural tasks which may include dealing with reports of dead animals, sharps (discarded needles) and other environmental hazards.

Based out of the Silver Street Hub in the city centre, this is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the city and its communities.

This role is suitable as a job sharing position.
