We have an exciting opportunity with one of our top clients, Europe's leading airline. To join this thriving team of Data Specialists you will play a major role in adhering to big data best practices whilst building and maintaining reliable data pipelinesand data products across a range of exciting initiatives. You will deliver via cross-functional fast-paced agile 'data product' delivery teams, demonstrating a 'release within sprint' mentality and learn and work in partnership with Senior Data Engineers toconform to/define patterns and standards.

**Overview**:
As a Data Engineer, you will be a part of an exciting journey in supporting the clients' vision of becoming the most data-driven airline in the world. With significant investment into their data platforms and the chance to work with some fascinating datapoints.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Drive the business to harness the power of data, championing the central Data Platform and Data Product adoption for all analytical needs.
- Work with onshore and offshore Data Engineers to partner with Data Science and Analytics to deliver end-to-end production-grade Data Solutions (data pipelines /ingestion /curations /outbounds/API's), serving the myriad of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptiveuse-cases across the core business functions.
- Deliver via cross-functional fast-paced agile 'data product' delivery teams, demonstrating a 'release within sprint' mentality.
- Work in partnership with Senior Data Engineers to conform to/define patterns and standards
- Drive improvements within the team demonstrating thought-leadership; finding ways to eliminate waste, embed new practices, improve quality, and guide the team through adopting modern development practices such as paired programming and test-driven development.
- Work with Business Analysts and Product Owners to understand requirements and use this to define the acceptance criteria for the technical scope and delivery of these requirements.
- Create, review and maintain the documentation library for all data pipelines/products.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and driving technological innovations in the team.
- Provide L3 support (in-business hours) for data pipelines/products within the production estate; including troubleshooting, refactoring, performance tuning and updating the L3 knowledge base articles.

**Experience required**:

- Solid SQL background - proficient writing efficient scalable SQL (Transact-SQL, Hive -HQL) to meet the requirement
- Ideally solid Spark skills
- Competent in Unix and shell scripting
- Solid understanding of data concepts and data modelling principles (e.g. Normalisation (OLTP), Dimensional (DWH), Data Vault)
- 3+ years of solid experience in building data solutions on a Big Data distributed system/Data lakes
- AWS Cloud practitioner
- GCP Data Engineer
- Experience with data security concepts such as encryption and access management controls
