JOB TITLE: Electrical Design Team Leader - Kempston, Bedfordshire **SUMMARY**: Responsible for all aspects of electrical design tasks and project activities either individually or leading a design team. You will have an expert knowledge of electrical systems and proficient in ePlan electrical drafting software and AutoCAD, MicrosoftOffice Applications. **Responsibilities**: - Act as the line manager’s nominee as required, to support internal meetings, bid and internal project reviews. - To be knowledgeable in detail about the project electrical and controls requirements. - To promote the engineering "One Team" approach and provide an interface with the respective departments on engineering matters. - In support of their allocated projects and team; plan and lead the electrical and controls design and development effort to meet project "as sold" requirements. - To ensure the change management process is adhered to and ensure alternative design solutions are considered. - From the electrical and controls perspective support (and/or facilitate) the engineering department’s design review process for allocated projects. - Support cross-functional communications between stakeholder disciplines. - Lead and participate in project formal and informal electrical and controls reviews as required. - Report their allocated project status for electrical and controls to the project team and line management as appropriate (Or nominee) as required. - Support the project risk management and lessons learning processes - In conjunction with the project manager and project controller, periodically review the detailed electrical and controls, cost, and schedule performance. (Line manager support or nominee as required)" **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES**: Electrical and Controls - Prepare electrical engineering designs, documentation, recommendations. - Provide technical support for electrical & engineering reviews, strategic plans, projects, and sale pursuits. - Meet engineering compliance and safety guidelines by working to both domestic and international technical standards and regulations in design activities and documentation. - Ensure engineering designs meet internal and external Customer specifications and fulfils the quality requirements of their assigned tasks. - Manage allocated electrical design tasks and support of engineering staff. - Create engineered solutions, quality validation and evaluation requirements of project designs. - Troubleshoot electrical design issues associated with production and operational dilemmas. - Support the organisations and departments lessons learned and continuous improvement activities. - Implementation of efficient and accurate change control procedures. Communication - Must be able to communicate at all levels in English, verbally and in writing. - A second language would be an advantage. - Be able to chair and minute project technical reviews and engineering meetings. Communicate to all stakeholders project Concern Correction Action Reports and ensure actions are expedited. Cross Functional Working - Providing the interface between the project management and engineering teams. - Continually build relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful completion of projects Health & Safety - Ensure all Company equipment and personal PPE properly used - Conduct system-based risk assessments / studies to identify the SIS requirement with accompanying technical solutions. - Always follow and promote Group and Company policies and procedures. Equality - Fully Understand and always adhere to the Company’s Equality Policy at all times Company Values - All employees must conduct themselves in accordance with our Corporate Company Values and Business Ethics at all times **Requirements**: Skills & Attributes - AutoCAD, - Microsoft Office Applications. - Experience of protection and control systems associated with power and transmission systems would be an advantage. - Expert user of EPLAN and AutoCAD would be a distinct advantage. - Experience with functional safety and intrinsically safe systems and life cycle management. - Microsoft Project & Visio experience - Has the ability to use MS Excel to manipulate data using formulas, macros and tables to present information and charts to assist in the analysis to technical issues. Experience - Previous experience in a similar working environment - Strong technical / project experience in an OEM, Systems Integrator or Controls environment. - Application of electronic aids /designs for electrical studies, fault calculations e.g. Cymap (Desirable) - Previous supervisory experience of managing a team is desirable. - Wide ranging technical background and previous experience in all or some of the following industries would be an advantage: - Automation - Automotive manufacturing - Aerospace manufacturing - Mechanical/material handling - Conveyor systems - Pneumatics - Hydraulics - Robotics - Control systems - Electrical power systems **Qualifications**: Engineering degree or equivalent experience with automation, design and construction with qualifications in an engineering discipline. - A formal health and safety qualification, i.e: NEBOSH qualified or equivalent health and safety qualification. - Project management qualification such as PMP or PRINCE2® Certified. - Functional Safety or Machinery Safety Certification or equivalent. - 18th Edition City & Guilds 2382-18, - 18th Edition Inspection and Testing - City & Guilds 2391-52, - Design, Erection & Verification - City & Guilds 2396-01
