**SQL DBA - About the Company**:
My client is expanding and have created a new role within their team for a SQL DBA with SQL Server, and T-SQL experience.
**SQL DBA - About the role**:
You will be responsible for routine duties to do with the support and administration of the company’s SQL Server & other databases ( which could include Oracle, Progress, MySQL, MS Access etc)
Look after the day-to-day database requirements, such as administration, backups, security, and maintenance of databases and business-critical systems.
Some responsibility for writing management reports.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Customise, administer, installation and configuration of SQL Server and MySQL databases.
SQL Server database design
SQL Server Capacity planning
Knowledge of database back-up and restore.
Database performance tuning
T-SQL scripting.
Problem solving and root cause analysis.
Follow the standards, processes and methodologies when delivering work.
Provide accurate information to stakeholders and management.
Keep up to date with emerging technologies and provide recommendations on improvements, following Best Practice
Share information and knowledge with colleagues and attend some scrum meetings.
Any other related duties as required by the business.
**SQL DBA- Essential Technical Skills**:
SQL Server - version 2008 or later
MySQL, Or Oracle or MS Access database experience is a bonus.
T-SQL, Stored Procedures and Scripting experience
Preference for some understanding of Data Warehouse principles
Experience of installation, configuration, administration, back-up and capacity planning of MS SQL Server Databases
In addition, you will ideally have some understanding of Data Warehousing techniques while having a strong interest in new & emerging technology. You will need to be able to pick up new skills and concepts quickly and balance a variety of projects.
