Therapeutically Informed Practitioners

This exciting and innovative new service will provide child-centred, outcome-focused, specialist support for children and young people, from birth to and up to 25 years old with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), residing in safe accommodation because of domestic abuse. This may include refuge, Sanctuary Schemes, move-on accommodation, and dispersed accommodation.
The role of the Practitioner will be to deliver therapeutically informed 1-1, and occasional small group, support to children and young people based on the needs, wishes and goals that they have identified. This support is likely to be for a minimum of 12 weeks and may be delivered in refuges, community settings such as youth hubs, and children and young people’s homes, as appropriate.
5.5 posts available across Kent (North, South, East and West). All variations of full and part-time working will be considered.

**Qualifications Required**
The postholder will hold a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CBT, counselling, Play Therapy) and have considerable experience of working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, including Domestic Abuse.
**Skills & Experience Required**
Experience of supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, particularly domestic abuse.
Ability to meaningfully engage parents.
Experience of working to safeguard children and young people.
A good understanding of agencies and support available for families in Kent.
Strong organisational ability including ability to plan workload and manage own time effectively.
A high level of written and verbal presentation skills and ICT skills.
Knowledge of the impact of Domestic Abuse on the development, resilience and well-being of a child or young person.
Knowledge of the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma informed practice.
An understanding of what constitutes Safe Accommodation.
A clear understanding of Safeguarding and Data Protection legislation.
An ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure and on sensitive and confidential issues.
To be creative and proactive, able to use initiative and make sound judgements.
An ability to deal with a number of tasks at once and to be flexible with work routines.
A positive outlook and a result focused approach.
To work effectively as part of a team.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
**Salary**: £32,000.00 per year
