Scope of Position
- To support the Early Years Practitioners to serve nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals for the children in our care and to be totally responsible for the safe and hygienic management of the nursery environment before, during and after mealtimes and snack times.

Key Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the day to day cleaning of the rooms
- To prepare the beds for children ensuring there is clean, fresh bedding available
- To remove and wash all bedding whenever required
- Reporting equipment, maintenance problems to the Senior in the room
- To adhere strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times

**To adhere strictly to the following safety rules**:

- Not to allow children to touch or use any of the cleaning products
- On a daily basis the lunchtime assistant should:

- Ensure that all room bins have liners at all times
- Ensure that all bin liners are tied securely before depositing contents in the outside bins.
- Ensure all food residue is completely removed from tables and all the floors and surfaces are disinfected accordingly.
- Clean dishes and ensure that the kitchen is cleaned thoroughly.
- Ensure the room and kitchen is clean at all times
- Ensure that all shelves are neat and tidy

**Health and Safety**
- Liaise with the Senior in the room to ensure maintaining allergy management systems in line with Company policy and ensuring the relevant colour coded plates, bowls and cups are used to identify children with allergies and dietary requirements
- Remaining aware and observant of all health and safety issues in the nursery and where possible reducing the risk of an accident occurring through preventative actions, report to the senior
- Ensuring the nursery equipment is kept suitably clean at all times in accordance with the company cleaning schedules
- Ensuring the effective and regular removal of waste materials to designated waste store

**Personnel**
- Observing the company dress code:

- Appropriate catering clothing to be worn on the nursery premises and laundered daily
- Flat non-slip enclosed footwear
- Hair covered and tied back if long
- Nails to be kept short; no vanish, false, gel or acrylic nails
- No jewellery with the exception of a wedding band
- Providing a positive role model to staff team
- Attending regular staff meetings
- Attending regular internal and external training

**Communication**
- Develop and promote parental partnership and involvement.

**General**
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Senior or line management.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the company’s policies on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered to.
