Assistant Designated Nurse for Safeguarding

Work collaboratively with the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Director for Safeguarding & Partnerships and Designated nurses and doctors in ensuring that the ICB meets its responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children, children looked after and adults. Undertake delegated responsibilities in respect of the designated nurse function for safeguarding children and children looked after and adults. Take the lead role in developing, implementing and evaluating systems and processes, which provides the ICB with assurance that commissioned services, have in place appropriate safeguarding arrangements. Deputise for the Designated Nurses at multi-agency partnership meetings including Safeguarding Childrens Partnerships and Adult board its sub groups and other safeguarding / partnership meetings as appropriate eg.
Domestic Abuse Provide safeguarding/child/adult protection health advice on policy development and case management to the ICB, commissioned services and partner agencies Foster excellent working relationships, at a senior level, on matters relating to strategic direction and policy interpretation and implementation of safeguarding Establish links with regional and national networks in relation to safeguarding processes and review to inform future developments. Support and contribute information, give advice to help resolve complex enquiries that may have legal, ethical and professional implications Ensure there is a high degree of communication and liaison in order to develop and maintain strong working relationships and up to date knowledge and information across the health economy and partner agencies. Interpret and clearly communicate the highly sensitive health findings from serious case and learning lessons reviews domestic homicide and LeDer to senior managers and staff within the multi-agency forum and other forums as required. Able to communicate difficult messages to patients, victims and families To provide the ICB with expert advice in the commissioning process and ensure that safeguarding is embedded into commissioning and performance management across the health Support commissioned services and primary care in developing and updating safeguarding policies and procedures in line with appropriate legislation, local and national guidance.
Advise and ensure that there is input of safeguarding expertise in the development of service specifications, contract performance measures and service level agreements with provider organisations, and in the review of their on-going performance. Will be required to play an integral role in all parts of the commissioning cycle from procurement to Quality Assurance and Improvement. Providing expert advice on the quality and compliance of provider safeguarding analysing performance information and raising any concerns for further exception reporting at Integrated Assurance Committee and/or contract monitoring meetings Exercise clinical judgment when advising on/reviewing the management of complex safeguarding issues relating to the workforce and/or patient care delivery. Being a source of expertise for all staff within the health service and the multi-agency network in relation to safeguarding.
Partake in ICB commissioner assurance visits and clinical quality assurance mechanisms to ensure that safeguarding is considered. Contribute to monitoring the quality and effectiveness of services, including monitoring performance against indicators and standards. Work alongside other teams within the ICB to provide expertise advice and support To advise and influence the priorities for safeguarding training across the health economy To work with commissioners to ensure that safeguarding training is provided in accordance with Children and Adult Inter-collegiate Document requirements and these are included in contractual standards to enable compliance to be regularly monitored To ensure the learning and outcomes of the Health component from Local and National Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews/Learning Lessons Reviews/Domestic Homicide Reviews and LeDer are disseminated to safeguarding professionals Contribute to the education and training programme, which reflects Health component of lessons learned/recommendations from any reviews to members of the multi-disciplinary teams across health and social care. Contribute to the delivery of training for primary health care staff.
Evaluate training and adapt provision according to feedback from participants Provide timely and accurate translation and interpretation of national policy and legislation relating to safeguarding, putting this into context for the ICB and health providers to enable policy and procedure development across the health service. Comply with the Care Quality Commission and other regulatory bodies on behalf of the ICB to ensure compliance with safeguarding requirements and take action where gaps are identified. Contribute to local Safeguarding arrangements agree a framework that responds to concerns
