Venue Assistant

The Venue Assistant will support all food and beverage operations at Murrayfield Stadium, ensuring exceptional guest experiences across rugby match days, concerts, and major events. Reporting directly to the Venue Manager, this role focuses on operational delivery, event support, and building strong working relationships with concessionaires and suppliers.
**Job Requirements**
- Strong understanding of food safety compliance.
- Strong understanding of stock management processes.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to support and motivate large casual teams and sub-contractors across multiple outlets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, concessionaires, and suppliers.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume event environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and long shifts during rugby fixtures, concerts, and major events.
- Hands-on knowledge of event build, set up, break, and take down processes.
- Experience in food & beverage operations, ideally within stadiums, arenas, or large-scale event venues.
- Previous experience working in a stadium environment, particularly in a high-capacity, fast-turnover setting.
- Knowledge of Scottish licensing laws, food safety standards, and health & safety regulations.
- Qualifications in hospitality, event management, or a related field.
- First aid, food safety, or alcohol licensing certifications.
**Responsibilities**:
**Event Support**
- Support the end-to-end planning and delivery of F&B operations for rugby internationals, club matches, concerts, large-scale and small-scale stadium events.
- Work closely with the Venue Manager to ensure event planning is robust, efficient, and aligned with Murrayfield standards.
- Be actively involved in event build, set up, break, and take down, ensuring all F&B outlets and concessionaires are operational.
- Provide on-the-ground support during events, ensuring smooth F&B service and quick resolution of operational challenges.
- Ensure food and beverage offerings consistently meet quality standards expected by Murrayfield’s diverse audiences.
**Concessionaire & Supplier Support**
- Support and build relationships with third-party concessionaires to ensure service quality, speed, and consistency across outlets.
- To proactively engage with potential concessionaires to work during event days.
- Monitor concessionaire performance during events and provide feedback to maintain high standards.
- Ensure the stadium’s “must stock” product list and retail pricing parameters are followed at all times.
- Suggest product and service innovations to enhance the fan and guest experience.
**Operational Oversight**
- Ensure all food safety, handling, storage, and sanitation practices meet legal and stadium-specific standards
- Assist with stock management when required, including ordering, wastage reduction, holding levels, compliance, and monthly stock checks.
- Support the maintenance of F&B outlets, bars, and kiosks, ensuring they are safe, clean, and event-ready.
- Help oversee annual compliance testing for all F&B facilities within the stadium.
**Casual Team Support & Development**
- Work with the Staffing to recruit, train, and schedule casual F&B staff for match days and events.
- Provide on-shift support to ensure casual teams are confident, motivated, and delivering consistently high standards.
- Encourage a positive team culture by leading by example.
- Support casual team wellbeing, recognising effort and fostering a fun, inclusive work environment.
- Act as a key point of contact for casual staff on event days, resolving issues quickly and effectively.
