Summary We have an exciting opportunity to lead a small team of welcome staff and volunteers at property. As Welcome Manager, you'll head up the staff & volunteer team every weekend the house is open and bank holidays, to welcome our visitors and help them enjoytheir visit.As the most senior person on site, you'll lead and empower your team to respond to customer enquiries and site issues and be the face of the National Trust. You’ll be experienced in managing people, delivering outstanding customer service andleading on risk management.

What it's like to work here You’ll have overall responsibility for the team, and their safety and working practices, working closely with the Visitor Experience & Operations Manager to develop the site offer.

Reporting to the Senior Visitor Experience Officer, you’ll be responsible for managing an established team of dedicated and committed volunteers as well as a seasonal Welcome and Service Assistant. You’ll join the Duty Management team working every weekendduring the season, which runs from March to the end of September every Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as Bank Holidays. You’ll work reduced hours during the closed season to support the planning and development of an exciting programme of events for thefollowing year as well as support other properties in the portfolio on an ad-hoc basis. This is an annualised contract to reflect the busy open season.

Shaw’s Corner is a small gem of a house, nestled in the Hertfordshire hills, offering in-depth guided tours to the house as well as open access to the gardens.

Who we're looking for We'd like to hear from you if this sounds like you:

- Good practical experience in visitor business, tourism, heritage or any visitor services environment
- Naturally curious about people, and with a passion to and experience of delivering the highest standards of customer service
- Excellent organisational skills
- Confident leader, adaptable and responsive under pressure
- Ability to initiate service recovery without senior support
- Good IT skills (all MS Office)
