It is an exciting time to be involved in health, wellbeing, and community support in Doncaster. The Doncaster Growing Together Borough Strategy has set out to change the way that public services deliver community support. Our ambitions are being realised through our inclusion in two national programmes which will test place-based, community-led health and well-being approaches across Doncaster.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for improving public health and wellbeing to join our Well Doncaster team. The team undertake community centred approaches to address health inequalities across Doncaster. Working within our communities with residents and voluntary, community and faith organisations to improve the wider determinants of health. The approaches have been recognised nationally for our strengths-based approach for working with, and for our residents, influencing whole systems change across team Doncaster.

We are looking for an individual who is experienced/has lived experience in Community Centred approaches to understand and improve minority health, who can demonstrate a working knowledge of implementing community based public health approaches and has excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Asset Based Community Development and key partners would also be beneficial.

The post holder will support the delivery of the Minorities Partnership Board Action Plan using community centred approaches to improve the health and wellbeing of residents and reduce health inequalities. They will support the Fairness and Inclusion forum to increase the understanding of the challenges related to inclusion and fairness facing those who live, work or visit Doncaster. Working with community leaders, voluntary sectors and wider stakeholders to identify needs for development and support, in line with relevant public health professional standards, delivering interventions.

They will undertake research, consult with and examine people’s views on key priorities and the impact of making significant changes to services.

With additional investment through our status as a Local Delivery Pilot, we work closely partnership with the Get Doncaster Moving team to further expand what we do to build in innovative solutions to tackling inactivity in our communities. The link between health and physical activity has a compelling evidence base and this post will be at the forefront of developing sustainable and innovative approaches to improve health outcomes across all communities.
