Painter - Bel Valves

Reporting to the Operations Lead, you will undertake preparation and painting of components / valve assemblies responsibilities in line with project requirements.
**The company**
British Engines Group company, BEL Valves, offers design, manufacture, testing and aftermarket care for high integrity valves and actuators to critical offshore and onshore projects, within the oil and gas, power and renewables sectors.
BEL Valves’ core activities are managed from the head office in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), with international projects supported from a local and satellite network.
**What you’ll be doing**:
- Undertake painting activities for components / valve assemblies
- Read GA drawings to identify components
- Carry out inspections/checks and maintenance in the paint shop/blast booth to ensure correct operation of the equipment and to minimise down time; reporting any defects to the supervisor
- Assist with training Valve Technicians in blast and basic painting operations
- Carry out shop floor checks in assembly to identify parts which may require painting to avoid delays
- Prepare and mask products
- Work with the finals department to ensure paint repairs are complete to the required quality level
- Work with the operational areas of the business to ensure that paint is available
- Use a range of hand tools and measuring equipment together with working knowledge of inspection procedures to undertake self-inspection
- Support training of apprentices and trainees
- Organise and store paperwork, documents and computer-based information, through maintaining departmental hardcopy and electronic files
- Ensure that quality systems and procedures are adhered to
- Participate in personnel development ensuring the Performance Management and Development process (PMD) is well supported
- Carry out site augmentation when work load allows and maintain a list of jobs to be carried out
- Work in a safe manner; driving positive behaviour and leading by example with regard to the company’s health, safety and environmental policies
- Carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected
**Who we are looking for**:
Excellent time management, organisation and communication skills are essential as is an innovative approach to problem solving.
They must have a flexible and motivated approach to work activities with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to work under pressure and within time constraints are also essential.
Full UK driving licence desirable
This position will be on a full time, permanent basis. Working hours are 37 per week.
