**Occupational Therapist Associate Practitioner (OTAP) - Adult Social Care - Community Occupational Therapy Service**

**Salary: Band**: 7, £31,067 - £35,235 p.a,

37 hours per week.

**The Service**

The Adult Social Care Community Occupational Therapy Service works across the city of Portsmouth with people of all ages who may have a physical, mental or social impairment. We aim to optimise a person's functional independence and quality of life enabling them to participate in activities that are important to them.

**The role**

Primarily working with disabled people and their carers in their own homes you will assist in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services by carrying out strength-based assessments under the direction of an Occupational Therapist. Interventions will include recommending adaptations, equipment provision, making recommendations for rehousing, recommending rehabilitation programmes and teaching clients new techniques of daily living. You will also participate in the Occupational Therapy intake duty process

You will have a knowledge and understanding of how health conditions and the ageing process impact on the performance of everyday activities, providing support and advice to clients, families/carers with long-term conditions.

You will develop knowledge and understanding of standard structural adaptations and will be able to identify when more specialist input is required from an OT.

**What you'll need to succeed**

With qualifications in Maths and English, GCSE or equivalent, you will have an understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy in Adult Social care. You will have experience of working (paid or voluntary) with people who have care and support needs and the ability to clearly communicate sensitively to a wide range of people in a wide range of formats.

You will need excellent customer service skills and be able to work on your own initiative and under pressure whilst organising your own work load.

With knowledge of Adult Social Care eligibility criteria understanding of adult safeguarding policy and practice, you will have the resilience and adaptability to respond to competing demands and changing priorities.

The ability to travel around the city and gain access to a variety of venues is required.
