Commercial Recycling/paint Facility Chargehand

**Basic Function**
The role is to lead the team at the Commercial Recycling Centre, Household Waste Recycling Centre, and Paint Re-use Facility at the Nantycaws site, on day-to-day operations in accordance with Company requirements and certain legislative compliance to ensure that the site is run efficiently for targets to be achieved. There may be times when the Team Leader will be required to attend other sites to assist in problem-solving.
**Job Purpose**
To provide an excellent front-line customer service experience for the CRC and HWRC that focuses on delivering positive outputs, and which puts communities and customers at the heart of what we do. To provide day-to-day management and support to the service team and strive to improve and deliver a holistic frontline service to existing and prospective customers.
**General Duties**:
- Contributing to the achievement of targets by supporting the department manager.
- Ensuring that staff on site are adhering to Company Policies and always ensure their understanding.
- Maintaining excellent people skills to successfully lead the site team with the highest safety disciplines.
- Liaising with Department Manager and Supervisor to ensure all matters are dealt with in the correct way.
- Liaising with other Departments of the Business to ensure that all queries are handled correctly.
- To ensure all daily documentation for the site is completed and processed, as required by Company policies and procedures.
- To be a trouble-shooter supporting colleagues, and ad hoc problem-solving.
- Understanding the company health and safety policy and ensuring that the arrangements detailed in it are adhered to by the site staff.
- Ensuring site compliance with all company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Working alongside the required team, leading by example, and always displaying a positive attitude.
- Display a positive attitude at all times.
**Specific Duties**:
- To support the department in ensuring that the daily operations conform to the site licence, working plan, environment management systems and relevant legislation.
- Qualifying vehicles entering and charging appropriately.
- Checking and Completing waste transfer notes, recording vehicle details and origin of the waste.
- Segregating the mixed waste by hand and machine to maximise recycling and efficiency.
- Ensuring all waste streams leaving the site are free from contamination.
- Operating mobile plant strictly to operational and health and safety instructions.
- Reconciling monetary transactions using a bespoke till system.
- Undertaking site inspections and reporting any unsafe conditions to the line manager.
- To ensure the CRC site is operating to maximise recovery of materials.
- To ensure the site is always kept clean and tidy.
- To communicate with the Department Manager, any lateness or absence of staff members.
- To lead team performance for the site and individual performance and to communicate with the Department Manager, any underperformance of site staff members.
- To carry out training for staff on-site, both full and refresher training.
- To ensure that any contractors working within the department, are inducted and the correct paperwork is completed.
- To ensure accurate site equipment/vehicle maintenance records are consistently recorded, reported daily, and communicated to the department manager.
- Ensuring that any equipment/vehicle that fails is identified and communicated to the department manager.
- Assist with the management of sickness absence within the site effectively and conduct Return to Work Interviews with staff on their return to the site.
- Assisting with feedback for probationary review meetings for new starters on the site.
- report any incidences that occur within the Department to the Department Manager, Health and Safety Manager and HR Manager.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and within your H&S responsibilities as detailed in the company H&S policy.
- Liaising with the Transport dept and external companies for the removal of waste.

- Understanding of in-house systems and procedures.

- Motivating, supporting & developing skills to build team knowledge and skills.
- Reliable.
**Other Duties**:
- To undertake any other duties which may be required, and which are consummate with the posts position within the company.
