Are you looking for work in the classroom?

Education World are seeking Cover Supervisors for a school in Hartlepool. You will be responsible for a class of pupils in the absence of the class teacher, if for example the regular teacher is ill or is required for training etc. A Cover Supervisor isprimarily responsible for three things:

- Ensuring that the work left for the pupils by the absent teacher is completed.
- That the pupils are managed in terms of behaviour.
- That everyone is kept safe in line with the safeguarding requirements of the school

As a Cover Supervisor you will keep pupils on task and assist where necessary. You will make detailed observations in order to feedback to the absent teacher, regarding the progress made and the behaviour of the pupils. Cover Supervisors are also required tofollow the schools behaviour and safeguarding policies.
**Who would this role be suitable for?**
This type of ad hoc, day to day work is ideal for the following people:

- Those training (or thinking about training) to become teachers and educators in the future who may want to build their experience, or see what different school environments are like.
- Trained / qualified teachers that want to explore different school types before committing to longer term and permanent roles.
- Anyone wishing to network and to demonstrate their teaching abilities to schools before suitable permanent positions may arise.
- People with limited availability for work, such as those with childcare responsibilities that may not be able to commit to full time work.
- Retired teachers and other educational staff that miss being in schools and also wish to earn a some weekend / rainy day money

**To be suitable to work as a Cover Supervisor you will require the following**:

- Some level of experience of working in school, or educational / care settings (such as pupil referral units, care homes, social services etc AND/OR:

- Education sector qualifications or training, such as a PGCE, Cert Ed, Teaching Assistant qualifications or anything similar or relevant.
- A genuine desire to work with children.
- Resilience and perseverance. It can be a challenging role and requires mental strength and the ability to deal with difficult behaviour.
- Presence and authority. You will oversee the class and will need to demonstrate this in a friendly and professional way.
