About the Sizewell C Project
As part of our plan to secure a low-carbon energy future, EDF Energy is leading the way in building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK. Sizewell C (SZC) is a proposed new nuclear station that is being developed with a target to startconstruction at the end of 2021. It is a large infrastructure project with a very important role in the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. The project will have a big impact in the drive to reduce carbon emissions in the UK.
The SZC Project Team is a growing, diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction. SZC Safety & Licencing Team is an integral part of this project,responsible for providing an “internal regulator” function to assure quality, provide oversight of process and governance, maintain the nuclear site licence and environmental permits, facilitate organisational learning and assure security.
Job Purpose / Overview
The quality assurance Auditor/Engineer, within the safety directorate will have experience in Quality Assurance process, internal and external audit and functional oversight of organisation as and when required, within the SZC Client organisation.
The incumbent provides expert advice and support to the business on internal audit activities, functional oversight, particularly to the Project Delivery Organisation and Supply Chain, who will execute the quality processes on behalf of the organisation.
Contributions will include internal audit management, functional oversight audit/inspections, departmental performance reporting and tracking of actions in line with an audit/functional oversight activity.
The Quality Assurance Auditor/Engineer will be expected to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations, and will have the interpersonal skills and experience.

Operating Environment
The role of the Quality Assurance Auditor/Engineer within the organisation is to, define theeffectiveness internal procedures and processes such as; quality documentation for the project, non-conformance management, lifetime records with the assistance ofthe Project Delivery Organisation and Supply Chain who will execute the quality processes for the project. The role also provides quality assurance expertise in the task of obtaining relevant international quality certification, arranging internal audits andoversight of the project’s processes.
The Quality Assurance Auditor/Engineer will plan and have executed internal audits of the organisation in a harmonised manner as required to achieve international certification for the project and provide functional reports prior to onward transmittal throughoutthe project.
This role also provides expert advice and guidance to the business in quality matters.This includes all the supporting arrangements in place to manage those relationship.
As well as the process of internal auditing, the role will require significant engagement with the organisation regarding functional oversight audits/inspections across all organisational levels.
Principal Accountabilities
The post holder has responsibility for a number of key processes (below);
Responsible for the adherence to the audit programme, ensuring timely planning and execution of the internal audit plan.
Conducting the internal audits as stated within SZC arrangements/procedures.
Conduct targeted audit/inspections to support a quality or project specific interventions.
Providing consistent reporting methodology of audit reports that provides analytical data capture that can be used to support organisational learning and improvement opportunities.
Provide support to the IMS Manager with procedure impact assessments with procedure adoption and management of change.
Support the IMS Manager to achieve international certification for the project with targeted pre-audits or interviews. Also to support external surveillance audits.
Support other audit, inspections or self-assessment activities by other functions where required by the organisation.
Dimensions
The Client Quality Assurance Auditor/Engineer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. There is no direct reporting line to this position. However the incumbent will be expected to support individuals across the business at all levels for quality issues.
Located at London/ Barnwood but also provides site support and engagement at SZC site as required. Remote working is acceptable at the discretion of the line Manager.

Essential
Strong interpersonal skills.Able to engage credibly within and external to the business.
Ability to influence and encourage change of behaviours across a wide range of organisational levels
Expert knowledge of Quality Systems, ISO 9001,ISO 19443, ISO 14001 and interrelated processes such as ISO 45001, GSR-2/3.
Strong knowledge of ISO19011:2015 Guidelines for auditing management systems
Strong presentation and communication skills - able to present at multiple organisational levels and to external regulatory stakeholders
A strong and credible decision maker, able to create confidence through crafting of strong justifications and arguments
Experience in supervising & managing smaller teams
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Degree qualified in an engineering or science related discipline or equivalent
Experience within the UK regulatory environment
External recognised Lead Quality Auditor Qualification to ISO 9001:2015
Desirable
ISO 14001, 45001 lead auditor expérience desirable
Large-scale infrastructure Project expériences
Experience and technical knowledge of nuclear safety design and quality management
Experience of working with Regulators within a dynamic environment.
Experience within the nuclear industry
Problem solving experience within complex infrastructure project
