Physical Activity Co-ordinator

We are seeking a Physical Activity Co-Ordinator to join the team at level B. This level attracts a salary that is mid-point of the range. You will have related experience and be able to demonstrate applied and developed knowledge, experience and skills to be effective in this role. All elements of level A and B listed within the person specification are essential. You will be supported to develop in your role through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. Through your induction you will be introduced to the Career Progression Framework (CPF), which will help you to identify your areas of strength and any development needs.
The Physical Activity Team are currently seeking an enthusiastic and forward
- thinking Physical Activity co-ordinator who is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of the local community by increasing physical activity levels and shaping the way we help people move more for better health. This will include working as part of a dedicated and experienced team to design and develop fit for purpose digital resources to support Medway residents to become more active and raise awareness of the benefits of physical activity to the community.
Duties of the role will include supporting the delivery of key community physical activity projects which encourage residents to lead more active and healthier lives by raising the profile of Medway Physical Activity projects using digital resources and social media platforms.
The role will require the post holder to assist with Physical Activity Projects within the wider Public Health team and the community, which includes communication of complex information and concepts (including health outcomes, inequalities and local and national guidance/best practice) to a diverse audience including community groups and health professionals. This will involve effectively engaging and communicating with other organisations, building relationships, managing conflict, encouraging contribution and sustaining commitment to deliver shared Public Health objectives.
The post holder will be required to assist in the development of health promotion material to promote the benefits of physical activity and dangers of inactivity, to empower individuals and communities to have more control over their decisions that influence their health and wellbeing. This will involve supporting the work of the Physical Activity Alliance, the Supporting Healthy Weight Network and Whole Systems Obesity by encouraging networking and engagement of individuals and organisations in Medway who have an important job of supporting and empowering the public to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. This means that the salary you will be offered will be at level A unless, based on an assessment against the CPF criteria, you demonstrate that you are meeting the criteria of level B or C. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to C.
The person specification of a job profile is split into three levels:
Level B details the developed competencies that an individual who is practised in this role would be able to demonstrate and will be a progression of knowledge, experience and skills from level A.
Level C requires the highest level of competence and applicants would need to fully meet and demonstrate all aspects of the job profile, including qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience.
