An exciting position has arisen within our East Staffs Mental Health Support Team. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Education Mental Health Practitioner/Wellbeing Practitioner.

You will continue to build on the fantastic work carried out within your allocated schools. The role is varied and no two days are the same, you may be setting up and delivering group work and assemblies one day to delivering assessment and interventions the next, as well as supporting schools to develop their whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing.

You will be skilled and experienced in conducting mental health assessments of children and young people (CYP) presenting with common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and low mood. You will be able to conduct risk assessments and identify the right level of support for CYP you come into contact with.

You will provide brief evidence based interventions using the principles of guided self-help for CYP and be experienced in using routine outcome measures to track progress and support care planning.

Alongside the clinical aspect of your role, you will play an integral part in supporting schools with their whole school approaches. There is scope for creativity and opportunities to work alongside CYP and parents/carers to drive the whole school approach agenda.

You will be joining a supportive and friendly team, who meet regularly to discuss referrals and support one another as and when required, so there are opportunities to work alongside team members. You will also have access to excellent administrative support.

We are looking for a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner / Wellbeing Practitioner to work as part of our Stafford Mental Health Support Team (MHST). The post holder will:

- Delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people in education setting with mild to moderate mental health problems.
- Supporting and facilitating staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
- To use the acquired skills, knowledge and abilities to deliver a service based within education settings that builds on and reinforces but does not replace those initiatives that already exist within these environments.
- Assess and deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working at all times in collaboration with and giving respect to the education function of the setting in which the post-holder is deployed.
- Support and empower children, young people, their parents/carers and families and their educators to make informed choices about the interventions being offered.
- Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity.
