Property Surveyor

**Special Requirements of Post**

Working Conditions e.g. working outdoors

A mix of office-based work along with attendance on a variety of tenant’s homes

Working Arrangements e.g. evenings, weekends, shifts

Flexible working arrangements with occasional evening meeting attendance.

Physical Requirements e.g. driving, lifting, working in constrained positions

Ability to travel across the borough

Ability to access various locations of a traditional construction site including roof access via a range of access equipment, eg scaffold.

DBS and Safeguarding Checks required

A basic DBS check is required to allow services to be delivered more flexibly across the team and allow complaints and inspections to be carried out across some of our other public building assets that includes schools, libraries, etc.

A technical knowledge of buildings and the ability to undertake technical inspections and identify remedial actions.

Understanding of refurbishment and modernisation of social housing dwellings

Understanding of the Governments Decent Home Standard

Knowledge and understanding of the Homes Fit for Human Habitation Act 2018 and The Landlord & Tenant Act 1985.

Understanding of relevant building regulations, planning requirements and housing repairs policy and procedures

Construction related skills and knowledge

Understanding of and ability to contribute to key strategic and operational issues.

Ability to develop practical and creative solutions to building defects

Ability to manage and monitor performance effectively and set clear objectives.

Able to work in a pressurised environment and manage competing priorities.

Excellent written, oral, presentational and inter-personal skills.

Competence in the use of ICT systems

Have a clear understanding of the Governments disrepair legislation

Qualifications and Training including Professional Registrations

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related technical surveying role

Relevant trade background with approved qualification

A related building qualification

Relevant experience as a surveyor across a housing organisation or local authority

**Skills & Experience**

Over 3 years construction related experience

Able to create construction related specifications

Able to create detailed kitchen designs.

Able to demonstrate a track record of achievement.

Evidence of delivering maintenance services to large volume of housing stock

Able to demonstrate effective management and motivation skills.

Evidence of effective communication.

Experience of managing change

Able to manage conflict situations

Further Information:
Travel is a regular feature of the post, and the post holder must be able to travel across the borough and meet the travel arrangements of the post.

The post holder must be able to respond quickly and be able to attend site with mínimal notice.

Ability to carry out a full range of site and property inspections for extended periods from foundations through to working at height.

Carry out duties outside of normal working hours

Please note if you intend to use your own vehicle (or non-council vehicle) for business mileage you must hold the relevant driver’s licence, MOT and insurance documentation.

**Salary**: £15.63 per hour
