**Job Title**:Deputy Safeguarding Officer

**Key Purpose of Job**
- To work under the direct instruction of the Safeguarding Officer and the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Providing comprehensive administrative support for Safeguarding.
**Key Duties and Accountabilities**
- To lead and deputise in the absence of the Safeguarding Officer.
- To assist the Safeguarding Officer in conducting: o Paired Home visits o Parental and multi-agency meetings
- Where appropriate to support with urgent safeguarding processes, such as escorting children to class/drop in to lessons/provide supervision at student break and lunch times.
- To contribute to external agency meetings with observations gleaned from above meetings, in conjunction with the Safeguarding Officer
- On occasion to be first point of contact for safeguarding issues in absence of Safeguarding Officer
- To update L3 Safeguarding status in line with Academy training dates
In urgent cases, to work outside of standard working hours to provide support in emergency safeguarding matters.
To assist in the provision of efficient and effective administration and clerical support including:
- Ensuring student safeguarding files are requested from previous schools and uploaded within 5 days of admission in line with KCSE.
- Updating and recording information on student safeguarding files using CPOMS
- Managing and co-ordinating diaries to arrange meetings and appointments
- Take minutes and appropriate records for internal and multi-agency meetings
- Maintain and update databases and electronic records
- Safe and secure transfer of CP files
- Maintain filing systems to ensure there is appropriate access in accordance with GDPR
- Support safeguarding colleagues by filing and maintaining Child Protection, Child in Need and CIC records.
Contributing to and administering Early Help Assessments and plans using Rights for Children.
- Produce supporting material and resources for the team to ensure that the service is responsive; including compiling reports from class charts and CPOMS
- Provide assistance to the DSL & Safeguarding Officer by creating documentation and resources which support the Safeguarding services.
- To complete information gathering to support internal and external meetings
- To create and manage correspondence groups for parents of students with Safeguarding issues
- To maintain appropriate high-quality displays that will support students
- Act as a key adult for a group of Safeguarded students
Support the school by:
- Being aware of and complying with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, and reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Being aware of and supporting difference and ensuring all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- Contributing to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Appreciating and supporting the role of other professionals
- Attending relevant meetings as required
- Participating in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
- Assisting with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtimes as required
- Accompanying teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and taking responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher
**Supervision/ Line Management Responsibilities of the Post**
- This post does not include supervisory responsibilities.
**Working Environment and Conditions of the Post**
- Normal office environment.
- The post will be based at Isca Academy. The post holder will be required to travel to and work with any school within the trust.
**Other Duties**
All Isca academy staff are expected to:

- Attend parents, staff and team meetings as required, making a valued and professional contribution.
- Undertake break, lunch and after school supervision as agreed, according to Academy policy.
