That’s why we don’t pro rata your salary as a Teaching Assistant, but, pay you based on the Outer London NJC scale. **The Role**

Each class only has up to eight pupils, allowing you to focus your attention effectively on each individual. Yes you’re going to come up against some behaviours that will test your resilience and prove your passion for developing these young people.

How will you face that? With determination and the desire to make a difference. Assisting pupils with their learning, monitoring their work and raising their self-esteem - that’s what it’s all about. It means encouraging and showing how rewarding it canbe for pupils to concentrate their efforts on the work, whilst raising their self-esteem through timely praise.

**Your profile**

This is really a role for someone with a background as a Teaching Assistant already, as you’ll need to know what to expect of classroom life if you’re going to be effective in a SEN environment. You’ll need knowledge of welfare and safeguarding practiceswithin education, an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification and proven ability to really connect with young people in secondary education.

Emotionally strong, a true team worker and driven as much to develop your own skills as your pupils’, you’ll also be prepared to take part in occasional meetings outside of school hours to help drive team focus.
