The College nursery - Positive Steps - are currently looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Childcare Officers to join their fantastic team as bank staff.
We are looking for Childcare Professionals to help provide care and support for our young children and their early-stage development.
**The Vacancy**
We have an exciting opportunity for a well organised and self-motivated Childcare Officer to join the East Durham College Team in our Childcare Nursery - Positive Steps Nursery - on a flexible Hourly Paid basis.
**Main Duties of the Role**:
Your role will be to deliver an ambitious curriculum to all by working as part of a dedicated team contributing to the delivery of high-quality care and education to nursery age children/babies. This will be in line with the college and nursery policies and procedures, current legislation and the new (EYFS) Early Years Foundation Stage guidance.
- Use the Early Years Foundation Stage as a benchmark for reflection, good practice and to plan suitable experiences.
- To observe children in their play and record in a variety of formats using these to inform planning for individuals and groups.
- Work with individuals and groups of children adapting your practice and interactions to suit their needs.
- Maintain efficient communication systems ensuring the flow of information within the team and between parents and carers.
- Provide equality of opportunity in the context of play and learning.
- Supervise, provide help, support and advice to students on placement whilst at the nursery and upon the completion of their placement.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Be flexible in the age range you work with as you may be asked to work with a different age range to the age you were appointed to work with.
**Essential Requirement**:
- Level 3 Childcare qualification or above and First Aid certificate.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children in a childcare or education environment.
- Up to date knowledge of childcare and child development and the needs and characteristics of young and developing children.
- Excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, characteristics of effective learning and the seven areas of development.
- Good understanding of Safeguarding practices.
