**Summary**:
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) is seeking an Information Assurance Officer within its Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team, part of the Digital directorate. The KIM team is responsible for managing the department’s knowledge and information, including ensuring compliance with the Public Records Act and other information rights legislation.
**Job description**:
You will be working as part of a small team, liaising closely with the wider KIM team and with stakeholders across the department, particularly data protection and security colleagues, to promote good information management practices and to support the department’s information assurance responsibilities, ensuring that information is managed and protected effectively in line with statutory and government requirements.
You will have KIM experience and excellent digital literacy and will enjoy working independently and with a range of people. You will be enthusiastic about the benefits of KIM and able to actively promote good practice.
You will be responsible for maintaining the department’s information asset register, including ensuring that it is up to date. You will work with security and data protection colleagues to ensure that information asset owners are aware of their responsibilities through training sessions and proactively provide guidance to support a range of departmental business areas and projects. You will also assist with the management of information breaches and unauthorised information disclosures, providing advice and maintaining the department’s information breach log.
You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly SharePoint, and will keep up to date with changes on the systems and how these will impact on KIM within the department. You will also contribute to projects, both within the KIM team and providing KIM input to wider departmental projects.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure that the department has an up to date, accurate and useful register of its information assets
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the department, particularly data protection and security colleagues
- Provide advice, and develop and deliver training on information asset management
- Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures and guidance to ensure information assets are adequately protected and information is managed in accordance with relevant legislation and cross-government guidelines
- Support breach investigations, offering guidance when notified of a breach, and escalating as appropriate to senior management or other teams
- Keep accurate records and provide reports on information assets and breaches as required
- Work with the wider KIM team to continually improve the services offered to the department
- Contribute to wider KIM priorities and projects as required.
**Essential Criteria**
**Skills**
- Understands the different business requirements for protecting information and applies the appropriate standards and policies for handling, storing, disseminating, and preserving it.
- Strong communication skills for working with stakeholders in related teams
- Ability to identify information skills gaps and draft clear, concise training advice and guidance to meet business needs
- Understands the need to manage information throughout its lifecycle and applies agreed retention and disposal policies.
**Experience**
- Experience of working in a knowledge and information management role or holds a relevant knowledge and information management qualification.
- Good working knowledge of data protection and data security requirements when managing information assets
- Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams and Microsoft 365. Knowledge of eDiscovery tools desirable.
