Ambulance booking Clerk 22.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join an extremely busy site coordination team at Stepping Hill Hospital. The team is a multidisciplinary team comprising of Clinical Site Coordinators, patient flow coordinators and an important member of this team is the Ambulance booking Clerk.

The role of the Ambulance Booking Clerk coordinates the booking of transport to support the discharge of patients from hospital. In addition ensuring priorities for discharges are identified which means working with our wards and transport providers. You will need to have good communication skills and be able to remain calm under pressure, as this role can be demanding at busy times during the day. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team. The post holder will be incorporated into the rota working opposite days or alongside two ambulance booking clerks already in post. Relevant training and support will be provided.

Main

**Responsibilities**:

- Be the main point of communication for wards regarding patient transport
- To book and allocate discharge transport
- Maintain accurate records within the department
- To be the main focus of contact in relation to ambulance contractors that the Trust use
- Ensuring that wards are up to date with any new guidance re eligibility criteria for booking

Responsibility for Patient Care
- To ensure all service users are given appropriate information regarding transport to ensure safe

discharge of patients
- All staff to be dealt with in a courteous professional manner

Planning and organising
- Organise own workload
- Allocate journeys to ambulance crews
- To respond to demand and allocate services accordingly
- The post holder is expected to use their own initiative and work without direct supervision

If successful this vacancy will require an standard DBS check at a cost of £21.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
