In return we can offer training with syringe drivers, symptom control and nurse verification of death for our RNs and we include our HCAs in all training relevant to their scope of practice. We also have rostered clinical supervision 6 monthly, with additional support and training where required.
We would welcome an informal chat with any prospective applicants, to arrange this please contact Trish Reeves Ward Sister, or Sarah Marriott-Hallam Deputy Ward Sister on ext 4809 / 3614.

We are passionate about providing excellent CARE, which is why our values are C ompassion, A ccountable, R espect and E veryone counts. Our mission is to make sure that our community is at the heart of everything we do and that we hold our values across all our services.
We are committed to endorsing inclusion, diversity and multiculturalism throughout out services and as such, our procedures and policies ensure that applicants are always treated fairly throughout the recruitment process.
Wellow Unit specialises in providing holistic care to people who are in their last hours to days of life within St Marys Hospital.
Wellow is a nurse-led unit overseen by our Consultant Nurse. We work closely with the Hospital Integrated Palliative and End of Life Team (IPET) who co-ordinate transfers into the unit and ensure optimum symptom control is provided for our patients.
Our aim is to provide a supportive and respectful environment where patients and their loved ones feel safe, and to promote a positive dying experience for all. We understand the different situations that people may face and know the value of person-centred care. Much of our work also focuses on pre-bereavement care and supporting loved ones through what is often a very difficult time.
Effective pain and symptom control are prioritised to enable those in our care to die with comfort and dignity. Spiritual care is equally important and we are fortunate to work closely with our hospital Chaplaincy team.
