This role exists to engage, motivate and develop our current and future workforce in MH services across the Trust. Responsible for the delivery of high-quality clinical education.
It is a broad role providing strategic leadership for the provision of innovative and effective clinical education and workforce development within the Trust and beyond. Being a visible, accessible and authoritative presence across MH Services able to respond to the changing educational and healthcare landscape.
You will horizon scan and keep up to date with latest Health Care Education developments to identify implications for the Trust and advise on current and future education and training requirements across MH Services. Working closely with other Clinical Education Leads and Services across the Trust to agree education and training plans and the transparent use of clinical education resources.
Leading the Placement Team within the Clinical Education Team who have an excellent record in placing and supporting a high number of nursing and AHP students.
You will be an RMN or an AHP with MH experience, clinically confident and have extensive experience working in MH Services and education.

The post holder will help attract and retain staff across all our MH services. This will include helping to build and maintain a pipeline for nurses and AHPs from work experience placements for local people through to professional training and career development pathways including student placements and apprenticeships. Managing the Student Placement Team and liaising with HEIs, Health Education England London, and partner organisation leads to provide high quality practice placements for our student workforce, increasing these in line with local ambitions to recruit more nurses and AHPs. Working with the Chief Nurse, Directors and Associate Directors of Nursing and Professional Therapy Leads to develop and embed post-registration career pathways and education initiatives for nurses and AHPs which will attract and retain staff.
The post holder will also provide educational expertise and leadership across the Trust but particularly in MH services. You will work closely with other Education Leads, Service, Team and Professional Leads as well as colleagues from the Quality Directorate and Business Development teams in order to ensure that clinical education resources are used to build a culture of learning which engages, motivates and develops a capable and confident workforce. This will include developing or commissioning and implementing high quality Professional Development activities which support the implementation of key Trust strategies and policies.
The CNWL Clinical Education Team lead the strategic and operational delivery of education to all nurses, AHPs and health care support workers across the Trust. The team is accountable to the Chief Nurse and this role will report to the Assistant Director of Clinical Education and work closely with other senior leads in the team and nursing and professional leads across the Trust.
Our current Head of Education for MH Services is being seconded to a neighbouring Trust for a year to complete an exciting project so we are looking for someone willing to join us for a year. This is a great development opportunity for an experienced nurse or AHP who is interested in education, clinically confident and has recent experience of working in a MH setting. We are developing as a team and want to respond to Service needs by delivering clinical education in new and exciting ways. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and happy instigating new ideas and who will be confident introducing new education technologies.
The post-holder will be offered a secondment or fixed term contract and we recognise that it can be challenging to hold a temporary post. However we are a good team and we are confident that we will be able to support the post-holder throughout the year and offer an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

You will contribute to our current and future workforce supply by leading or supporting initiatives designed to attract and retain staff as aligned to workforce and people plans. This will include:
- Helping to build and maintain a pipeline for nurses and AHPs from work experience placements for local people through to professional training and career development pathways including student placements and apprenticeships
- Recognising and promoting key educational building blocks essential for a strong pipeline e.g. access to good functional skills training, effective supervision
