**The role**

Working as part of a small finance team to provide accurate and effective financial management including monthly financial reporting, monthly payroll and pension processing and weekly payments to suppliers and staff

**Some of the things you’ll do**:

- Responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly journals and the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, for both our charity and trading subsidiary.
- Contribute to the production of monthly management accounts by reviewing departmental income and expenditure accounts and comparing actual income and expenditure to budget. Report anomalies and variances to the Head of Finance and the Finance Manager.
- Contribute to the operation of the monthly payroll cycle (including both hourly paid and salaried employees), ensuring compliance with HMRC guidance and reporting requirements regarding deductions to ensure staff are paid correctly and on time.
- Administer the pension fund, e.g., identifying staff who are eligible (based on fixed criteria), answering minor queries, making referrals to the external provider, providing reports and processing payments.
- Assist with the preparation of the statutory accounts by providing detailed analysis including payroll costs and employee numbers. Also provide auditors with evidence and analysis as required.
- Collating (via excel report) monthly Gift Aid claims and responsible for checking claims are correct before submitting via online portal for processing.
- Assist with all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Finance Team to ensure delivery of first-class customer service across RZSS.

What we’re looking for:

- Up to date knowledge of payroll and taxation regulations and systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial systems (including Sage 200)
- Qualifications in accountancy at HNC (Level 7) or equivalent level or experience.
- Proficient with all aspects of a computerised accounting package.
- Ability to work as part of a team
