**Job Summary**

Key Responsibilities:

- Halal Compliance:

- Ensure all meat processing adheres strictly to Halal guidelines, from sourcing to preparation and display.
- Verify that all blood is completely drained from the carcass.
- Meat Preparation and Processing:

- Cut, grind, bone, trim, and prepare a wide range of meats (beef, lamb, poultry) according to customer requirements and display standards.
- Utilize various butchery tools and equipment safely and efficiently, including meat bandsaws, mincers, and knives.
- Weigh, package, price, and display products attractively and accurately.
- Perform quality inspections on meats to ensure freshness, safety, and adherence to Halal standards.
- Hygiene and Food Safety:

- Maintain a clean and hygienic workspace at all times, adhering to all UK food safety and sanitation controls (e.g., HACCP principles).
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and display areas regularly.
- Monitor and control cold storage temperatures for meat products.
- Inventory and Stock Management:

- Order, inspect, and receive meat deliveries from suppliers, ensuring quality and proper temperature.
- Manage stock rotation and inventory levels to minimise waste and ensure freshness.
- Customer Service:

- Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide expert advice on different cuts of Halal meat, preparation methods, and cooking techniques.
- Teamwork and Training (if applicable):

- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other team members.
- Potentially train and mentor junior butchers or trainees on Halal practices and butchering techniques.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Essential:

- Proven experience as a Halal Butcher is essential.
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency with various butchering techniques.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, health and safety regulations in the UK.
- Ability to operate butchery machinery safely (bandsaw, mincer, etc.).
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Physical strength and manual dexterity for handling meat and equipment.
- Desirable:

- Relevant butchery qualifications (e.g., Certificate in Meat and Poultry, or equivalent apprenticeship).
- Knowledge of English, Urdu, Hindi, or Punjabi (depending on the customer base).
- Experience with inventory management systems and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Pay: £12.50-£13.50 per hour
