Housekeeping Manager

Whilst being responsible for delivering operational excellence and the highest standards of cleanliness, Housekeeping Manager will focus on implementing training and motivating the team. As well as reviewing processes and practices to fit the departmental needs and ensure that the business remains at the forefront of the Hostel industry, maximising financial performance.

As part of the housekeeping leadership, the Housekeeping Manager will directly answer to the General Manager.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Assist on the development of new processes and procedures including pro-active monitoring.
- Accountability and responsibility for ensuring the housekeeping department complies with all health and safety statutory and legal obligations and working with the heads of departments on these areas.
- Identify areas that require attention and working efficiently to resolve this, whether themselves or through coordinating the team.
- Provide a two-way communication and nurture an ownership environment with emphasis in motivation and teamwork.
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
- Communication and leadership skills.
- Supervise and evaluate staff.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are adequate in quantity and quality.
- Ensure all records are kept properly and consistently.
- Provide reports and feedback for the Managers to assist in developing new processes/initiatives.
- Regular checks of staff work, extra and ongoing training with every team member.
- Complete dorm checks mid-afternoon where manager cannot.
- Keep in constant communication with the other departments to ensure efficient running of the hostel.
- Knowledge-based coordination.
- Good organisation and keeping templates up to date.
- Ensure all common areas are clean and tidy.
- Check the bin areas are kept organised and tidy - ensure recycle procedures are being followed efficiently.
- Striving for the highest cleaning standards at all time, encouraging and leading the other team members to do so also.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Any other Duties as required.

**Job Types**: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: £16 per hour
- 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Edinburgh, EH1 1JR: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- housekeeping: 2 years (preferred)

Pay: From £16.00 per hour
