Senior Visitor Experience Officer

Would you like to be part of a creative, dynamic and exciting team who engage with visitors from across the world? As part of Corfe Castle’s leadership team, you’ll be planning, delivering and leading, a high-quality engaging visitor experience and programme throughout the year. This is a permanent, full-time role. Working patterns can be negotiated but will require occasional weekend and Bank Holidays, including some Duty Manager responsibilities.

What it's like to work here:Corfe is one of Britain's most iconic and evocative ruined castles. Blown up by Parliamentarians after the English Civil War, it has been cared for by the National Trust since 1982. As part of the Visitor Experience team, you will work with colleagues at Corfe and across the National Trust to ensure that our 230,000 annual visitors have a really great day out in a beautiful and iconic setting.

What you'll be doing:Working with the Visitor Operations and Experience Manger, you will be responsible for the creative direction and implementation of the visitor experience at Corfe Castle. This is an exciting time to join the team as we start to design and deliver a new interpretation strategy to make meaningful connections with our audiences.

Whether it’s through on-site interpretation, new digital channels or developing creative partnerships, you will be championing an accessible, exciting offer that celebrates the castle’s fascinating history and the cultural heritage of the Isle of Purbeck.

You’ll be leading the Visitor Experience team which will involve supporting the planning, and delivery, of a broad range of outstanding and inspiring experiences for a range of different audiences. Be it a large-scale event spanning a busy Bank Holiday weekend, a small intimate event, following national programming guidance or creating our own ‘in-house’ programme, you’ll have a hands-on approach in planning, implementing, and bringing these events to life.

- Experience of delivering inspirational engagement activities
- Have good people skills, enabling good working relationships with those in your team and across the property
- Understanding of how to interpret significant collections to varied audiences.
- Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to time manage projects successfully
- Have good interpersonal skills, able to deal with visitors in a variety of situations
- Have a flexible customer focused approach with experience in delivering high standards of customer service
- Experience of working with and supervising volunteers
- Empathy with aims of the National Trust, with genuine interest and knowledge of the work of the Trust
