Job Title: SHE Advisor - Environment

Location: Samlesbury or Warton - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

**Salary**: £54,793

What you’ll be doing:

- Leading on governance activities associated with a specialist environmental discipline for the business and/or site(s), including (but not limited to): developing and maintaining related environmental Policy and Management Systems, Objectives & Targets, Assurance, Reporting, Training and Functional Capability Development, that meet the requirements of BAE Systems Operational Framework and International SHE Standards (such as ISO14001 & ISO 50001 ) and supports the achievement of organisational goals
- Leading on operational activities associated with a specialist environmental discipline for the business and/or site(s), including (but not limited to): deployment and implementation of environmental Policy and Management Systems, objectives and targets, provision of competent environmental advice on risk management and control, collation and provision of environmental performance reports (such as incidents, audits, regulatory issues), investigation and reporting of incidents in accordance with regulatory and/or customer requirements, provision of an effective interface with regulators and representatives dealing with liability issues
- Providing competent and specialist environmental advice and support to Line Leaders, enabling them to effectively manage environmental impacts and opportunities within their area(s) of responsibility
- Leading activities associated with improving specialist environmental practice and performance within a business or site(s)
- Supporting the development and implementation of innovative environmental change programmes, ensuring consistency and effective improvement in environmental risk management and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices
- Providing assurance for determining compliance with relevant legal, BAE Systems Operational Framework and SHE Management System requirements within a business or site(s)
- Monitoring the effectiveness, and providing regular reports, on all of the above to relevant stakeholders

Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- An understanding of safety, health and environmental management standards and practice, and relevant BAE Systems processes and procedures
- An understanding of environmental requirements, internal and external best practice and able to bring their experience to articulate these in order to ensure effective deployment within their work area
- A good understanding of how to influence others in order to operationalise, integrate and deliver environmental processes, projects and change in a business, through having a good knowledge of the business or site(s), a contemporary view of their deliverables and aims, the challenges they face, the developments which they are planning and enacting
- In addition to the above, relevant qualifications for the specialist discipline must be held. For example: NEBOSH or IEMA Specialist Diploma in Environmental Management. These are provided as examples only, and not an exhaustive list

Desirable
- Membership of a recognised professional institution for the specialist environmental area. For example, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Chartered membership of the appropriate professional institution
