Southall, United Kingdom West London NHS Trust Full time

As an assistant psychologist within the Ealing Early Intervention for Psychosis team you will play an essential role in assisting the psychology team in the provision of psychological assessments and therapies for service users and their families. You will carry out initial psychometric assessments, maintain databases, carry out relevant audits for the service and co-facilitate group interventions and family work. You will also be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and have the opportunity to contribute to case discussions, team meetings and reflective practise. You will be part of a wider tri-borough psychology service.

We are looking for an assistant who has excellent skills in communicating and engaging with new service users, many of whom have complex needs and presentations. You will provide initial psychometric assessments and provide high quality written summaries which will inform the psychology service about appropriate interventions. You will be familiar with databases and have excellent organisation abilities. You will work collaboratively with other professions and develop good working relationships with other staff, service users and their families

West London NHS Trust is one of the most diverse providers of mental health, community and social care in the UK.

Our 3,982 staff care for people in hospital and in the community, helping them to recover and go on to lead full and productive lives. We aim to be the best organisation of our kind in the country.

We provide care and treatment for more than 800,000 people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow, delivering services in the community (at home, in GP surgeries and care homes), hospital, specialist clinics and forensic (secure) units.

We’re rated good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Together, we’re committed to promoting hope and wellbeing, working with patients, service users, carers, families and partners across the communities we serve.

We are keen to ensure that our workforce reflects the community it serves, particularly in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability, LGBTQ+ and experience of mental illness.

Covid-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role, unless an exemption applies. The successful applicant may have contact with vulnerable service users and we will therefore seek proof of being fully vaccinated during the recruitment process.

You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team comprised of qualified psychologists, a family worker, honorary psychologists and clinical trainees. The team aims to provide patients with seven core interventions as recommended by NICE guidelines (CBT for psychosis, Family Therapy, Physical Health monitoring and interventions, Medication management, Carer Support/ Education, Employment Support, and Wellbeing Support).

**The post-holder will be expected to**:

- Carry out initial psychology assessments with new patients
- Provide formulation summaries to support the psychology team in decision making
- Facilitate groups
- Support national and internal audits
- Shadow CBT sessions
- Provide administrative support to the psychology team

You will also have the opportunity to observe the work of other members of the multi-disciplinary team and attend team meetings and contribute to case discussions.

You will have the opportunity to join a team of established Clinical Psychologists across the Community, IAPT and Acute service-line. There are also excellent CPD developmental opportunities.
