**JOB - Mechanical Design Engineer**
**LOCATION- Surrey**
**TERM- Permanent**
**SALARY- Dependent on experience (please advise what you’re looking for)**
My client designs and manufactures engineering instrumentation and equipment, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis, in the Surrey area.
**The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes**:

- BSc/ BEng/ MSc/ MEng/ HND or similar in Mechanical Engineering / Materials Science/ Design
- Be proficient using SolidWorks CAD software ideally with exposure to PDM
- Have a good understanding of the principles and fundamentals of precision engineering and tolerancing
- 2 or more years’ experience working in a similar position post-Graduation ideally; although less experience may also be considered if projects are relevant
- Any experience working with micrometres, vacuums / UHV, scientific instrumentation or similar would be desirable to be able to hit the ground running
- Good knowledge and experience of materials selection and manufacturing / machining techniques
- Have a methodical approach to work and be keen to work within a varied R&D role
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written

**The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve**:

- Using SolidWorks CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
- Working on creating a range of jigs & fixtures
- Working on the design of new products and modifying existing products too
- Being involved in varied product development and testing so also working hands on - from concept to production
- Working on a variety of projects
- Working closely with other multi-disciplinary team members
- Being involved in materials selection
- Having the chance to be creative with design work and solutions
