Night Shift Supervisor

Here at **ParkerStee**l we have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Night Shift Supervisor to join our busy Operations Team at our Canterbury Site.

You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis. Hours of work are 20:00pm to 06:00am, Sunday to Thursday and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 dependent on experience.

**Roles and Responsibility**

Manage all night shift personnel and activities associated with Long products / Flat Products / Warehouse at the Canterbury depot. This responsibility makes no distinction between those who are direct reports or otherwise.
- assume responsibility for the shift activities associated with the off-loading, warehousing, picking, processing and loading of all long product material
- that at all times SWP / SSW are adhered to
- train, lead and motivate all staff in the jobholders’ area or responsibility
- ensure normal Company Routines are followed in the receiving, processing and despatch of long products, whilst constantly looking to improve the current condition
- control long product processing facilities, ensuring planned maintenance activities are executed as prescribed, machine effectiveness and efficiency is monitored for areas of non-performance and improvement
- material is safely and correctly picked, identified and delivered to the correct location on-time and in the correct sequence
- all activities in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery are executed in the most effective and efficient manner
- the effective utilisation of all processing equipment to supply safely and on-time, material which conform to specification
- support the Duty Manager to establish and then maintain the best and most efficient operating practices
- follow all Company operating procedures and practises at all times

**Main Purpose of Job**

Your main duties are detailed below; these duties are neither in order, conclusive or definitive. As with all jobs there may be times when you will be required to be flexible and take on duties outside those listed.
- Shift safety, this includes but is not restricted to ensuring that all personnel are trained, provided with the required safety equipment and perform their respective jobs in a safe and prescribed manner. The operations performed are to be reviewed on a periodic basis to identify improvements and/or conformance to the standard operating procedure. These reviews are to be documented. All accidents/near misses are to be investigated, communicated and countermeasures implemented immediately
- The job holder will be responsible for the control of all night shift personnel and activities associated with long product. The scope of this responsibility includes the control and supervision of the receiving, storing and picking of material for dispatch or processing. All processing and associated activities. Ensuring that all dispatch vehicles are loaded safely, on-time and with the required material
- Supervise and control the receipt of incoming material ensuring that identification, labelling, transportation to the designated storage location and storage in a manner which is safe and maximises the available foot print. The ‘First in First out’ stock rotation philosophy and stock control and reporting is essential, as such all cycle counts are to be completed by the designated date
- Human resource planning. The nature of the night shift operation will dictate the labour requirement in terms of both numbers and duration. The job holder is to ensure that the correct skills balance is established achieved and maintained which facilitates the movement from of manpower between the warehousing, processing and loading operations. This skills profile must be sufficiently broad to ensure that any specific short term demands can be accommodated, whilst avoiding waste and additional costs.
