**Teacher of Music**
- In Years 7 and 8 music is taught in six form groups (max 33) and in Year 9 students are mixed into seven teaching groups. In Year 10 students can opt for GCSE Music. The department delivers Edexcel GCSE Music and Eduqas A Level Music.
- There is a willingness amongst the staff and students to try new things and projects. Subject knowledge is strong across the faculty with specialist teachers. There is a high degree of enthusiasm in both staff and students and this enthusiasm in the staffis recognised and appreciated by the students.
- Music is located in the self-contained Music Block in Upper School, including a recital room, two classrooms (one with 33 computers with Sibelius software), an instrument store, music office and staff-base, and five practice rooms.
- The department employs a drum and percussion teacher for two days a week and offers church organ lessons through one of our classroom teachers.
**In addition, students are expected to participate in ensembles.**
Currently they offer; String Orchestra, Junior Band, Concert Band, Soul Band, Swing Band, Flute Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Choir and Chamber Choir, with other smaller ensembles running throughout the year. The department works with the Head of Drama to stagetwo productions each year, the first in December for Year 7 and a whole-school musical in July.
