TEC Partners are working with a London-based start-up that is developing an innovative device to tackle the unavoidable methane emissions in the agriculture sector.

Agriculture and livestock industries are the largest sources of methane emissions, a greenhouse gas that has 80 times bigger warming effect on the climate than carbon dioxide. As eliminating the methane emissions completely is not possible at the moment,the company has taken the challenge to reduce methane emissions by providing farmers with the means to reduce the environmental impact of the livestock.

The company is developing an oxidation technology that converts the methane from the cattle to other chemicals via a catalytic mechanism. The device also offers a proprietary AI-equipped monitoring system to ensure animal welfare, optimal efficiency, andprovide key data and insights in a simple and easy to use way.

The company is looking for a Senior Chemical Engineer to join a chemical engineering department. The role will focus on the chemical and thermal elements of the catalyst technology.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Supporting chemical engineering team in the development and testing of the technology
- Supporting prototype building and testing of catalytic components and other system engineering functions
- Assisting in leading the experimental setups
- Providing the feedback to maximise the efficiency at low temperatures
- Researching and keeping up to date with the relevant publications and news in the market

**Requirements**:

- BSc or higher in chemical engineering, chemistry, or similar field
- Experience developing experimental setups and confident in setting up a catalysis lab
- Experience in laboratory testing environment, including methane catalysis tests
- Knowledge of HS&E and flammable gases
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
- Experience using laboratory equipment, including furnace, mass flow controller, humidifier
- Data analysis skills
- Lab-view or similar software experience

**Desirable**:

- Knowledge of developing 0,1D models for reactor optimisation
- Agile development process experience
