The post holder will be able to work independently and in conjunction with other members of the clinical team. They must demonstrate and evidence: developed clinical skills; critical-thinking; and clinical-reasoning whilst working within their professional boundaries (scope of practice), which should not be exceeded, unless ‘directly/physically’ supervised or delegated/tasked to do so by a senior member of the ‘multidisciplinary-team’ (MDT).

The post holder is identified as a clinical expert/lead and is required to have a high clinical profile ensuring the provision of effective and efficient care.

The post-holder would have completed their Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) training. Our UTC is located within the Leicester Royal Department Hospital. The Centre is GP led with support from allied healthcare professionals including Emergency Care Practitioners, Paramedics Emergency + Health Care Assistants.

**Main duties of the job**

**Main duties include**:
History-taking; assessment; diagnosis; treatment; discussion and discharge of patients presenting with undiagnosed/known conditions or injuries, following safety netting through a senior member of staff within the multidisciplinary team as stipulated.

They will communicate at all levels across boundaries and work closely with wider clinical team members. The post holder will also work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing clinical leadership as required.

**Responsibilities**:

- Recording patient medical histories and symptoms.
- Performing physical exams and patient observations.
- Ordering, administering, and analysing diagnostic tests (if applicable to role).
- Monitoring and operating medical equipment.
- Detecting changes in patients' health and trends.
- Creating/Modifying patient care plans.
- Diagnosing health issues/illness/injury.
- Administering medicine and other treatments.
- Service user education/advice to manage and prevent illness and injury.
- Encourage ‘Shared Decision Making’ (SDM) with service users, where appropriate.
- Consulting with senior healthcare professionals and the wider MDT regarding onward referral, management/treatment and patient discharge.
- Supporting the wider MDT, working past scheduled hours when required, until all patients are processed, triaged and have been discharged or transferred to the relevant onwards care provider/department (this is both an operational and professional responsibility as stated by both the HCPC & NMC independently).

**Essential criteria**
- Hold a full BSc in the relevant health industry/professional body.
- Hold a specific health assessment qualification (level-6 award).
- Hold a specific minor illness or minor injury qualification (level-6 award).
- Hold a non-medical prescribing (V300) qualification and hold the relevant entitlement issued by the clinicians registered body to use this qualification.
- Hold an approved and up to date Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IRMER) qualification/training certificate (able to evidence training)
- Be working towards an: enhanced (level-6); or advanced (level-7), level of practice. Advanced Level - Practice Requirements
- In order to be considered Advanced (Advanced Clinical Practitioner), the clinician must be able to provide: relevant academic qualifications; evidence relevant experience to the position; and comply with (satisfy) the definition as stipulated by the NHS Employers Guide.

- Hold an Enhanced DBS and have the right to work within the UK.
- Not have been previously dismissed from an NHS or Accountable Care Organisation (ACO).
- The post holder must declare any pending intended action to Elite-EMS at the earliest opportunity to do so post the event/allegation.
- Hold a recognised qualification from an accredited higher education program/body.
- Hold a recognised national registration with either the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
