Developing Specialism in Deafness and Hearing Loss
Newham’s Speech and Language Therapy service has some exciting news and we are looking for new SLTs to join our expanding and supportive team. Would you like to bring your skills and ideas to help us deliver change and new services together?
**We are looking to recruit**:
- Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist in Early Years and Hearing Loss
- Developing specialism in hearing loss - support and training will be provided
Within the Early Years Team, the caseload is varied, and we work over community clinics, educational settings and Children's Centres. The role will involve assessments, therapy interventions and reviews as well as contributing to service development and highlighting needs.
You will have a caseload of children with hearing loss and work closely with a Band 7 SLT Specialist as well as being part of the MDT including Teachers of the Deaf.
As a Band 6, there will be opportunities to supervise and support more junior staff and students. Our Band 6 SLTs are also involved with training and taking the lead in specific projects as well as audits as part of a team.
We are part of a multi-disciplinary therapies team who work together to deliver a high quality service for the children of Newham and their families.
Within the team, there are specialist and highly specialist therapists who provide support and in-house training, and multi-disciplinary working is encouraged.

Newham is in the heart of London’s East End with excellent transport links with the rest of London and Essex. The children’s speech and language therapy service has a strong multi-agency work ethic with other services both within the trust and with partner agencies, and offers services across a wide
range of care groups in the borough. All posts include working with SLT assistants in Newham’s diverse and culturally rich community.
