**The role will be working primarily in our shops in Wakefield Centre with the flexibility to cover any of the shops.**

- Retail experience
- A flair for creating window displays
- Knowledge of current fashion trends
- Car owner
- You must be able to work under your own initiative

**INTRODUCTORY NOTES**

2. In addition to amendments requested by the hospice, suggested changes to the content of this document which could improve the job description would be welcome from the post holder.

3. The post holder will have a duty to be aware of and adhere to all the rules and regulations of professional governing bodies and any particular Acts of Parliament or other statutory requirements, which may change from time to time.

4. The post holder may have access to information which is strictly confidential. It is a condition of employment that under no circumstances will such information be discussed or shared with unauthorised person or persons.

5. The hours of work will be organised according to a department rota system. Weekends and bank holidays will be part of the normal working week. The post holder is required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfil their duties to the satisfaction of the Hospice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL DUTIES

1. Maintaining the high level of customer service, with the ability to deal with complaints and queries quickly and calmly.

2. Creating window displays on a weekly basis to promote sales and to provide awareness of the Hospice.

3. To be punctual and ensure that the shop opening hours are maintained.

4. To behave in a professional manner at all times with both volunteers and customers.

5. Display and price all clothes, new merchandise in accordance with Company Policy:
- a) Assisting with the completion of year-end stock take and monitoring stock control of new merchandise with shop manager and warehouse supervisor.

b) Attending regular shops and warehouse meetings.

c) To understand and be aware of current trends within the retail industry e.g. major multiples (M&S, Bhs), other charity shops both local and national and report back to monthly meetings.

6. Banking of shop takings and other donations received on behalf of Wakefield Hospice and ensuring monies and receipts are issued in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures.

7. Ensuring that the shop premises maintain good housekeeping standards as detailed in the Company Policy.

8. Reporting any defects or hazards in the premises to the Shop Manager, Area Retail Manager or Director of Fundraising.

9. Accepting new merchandise/donated goods from the warehouse and/or other outside bodies.

10. Making available all records and transactions and copy receipts for the inspection of the Director of Fundraising.

11. Ensuring that no monies or goods belonging to Wakefield Hospice are taken from the shop without authorisation from the Shop Manager, Area Retail Manager or the Director of Fundraising.

12. To promote the awareness of Wakefield Hospice and its fundraising activities.

13. Ensuring you comply with the Health and Safety policy laid out by Wakefield Hospice Trading Ltd.

14. To participate in mandatory training.

15. Any other duties which may, from time to time, be required in the interest of the Hospice.
