Rowland house provides high-quality care and support providing a safe and nurturing environment for the people we support within their local communities. the home has been carefully adapted in attractive residential settings with easy access to the community and its resources whilst providing a cost-effective solution to meet the needs of the service. They also promote independence and make a positive difference to the lives of each person we/you support.

We have embedded in our practice Positive Behaviour Support, Positive Behaviour Management, and other complementary approaches such as Intensive Interaction to reduce behaviours that may challenge or / and support people with changes in their support package.

Our residential services have been carefully adapted in attractive residential settings with easy access to the community and its resources whilst providing a cost-effective solution to meet the needs of the people we support. We also promote independence and make a positive difference to the lives of each person supported.

Rowland House supports up to six people.

**Job Role**:
When acting as a SSW you continue to be responsible for all duties set out in the Support Worker, Shift Leader and Support Worker job descriptions. However, the role of SSW carries considerable additional responsibility and must be undertaken in the clear knowledge of this additional responsibility and accountability.

**You will**:

- Ensure Individuals are at the heart of the care delivery and their wishes and preferences enhance their wellbeing
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals they support
- As SSW you will need to be able to adapt and address situations quickly. Plan, develop, implement, and assess approaches to promote health and well-being, whilst recognising and reporting situations where there might be a need for protection
- Ensure the staff team enable the people we support to lead a valued and enriching life, maximising their rights as members of the local community.
- Maximise the potential ability of all individuals, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially, whilst working in accordance with the company’s philosophy of care, values, policies, and procedures.
- In the absence of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager SSW will take overall responsibility for all aspects of running of the service.

**Key Responsibilities (Duties not exhaustive)**

1. Support the manager in the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring that high standards of care and support are maintained.

2. Adhere to all requirements and regulations, whilst continuously monitoring, assessing, and improving the quality-of-service provision to the people we support.

3. Support the manager to ensure that:

- Keyworker reports, detailed support plans and effective risk assessments and guidelines are in place and accurate - reflective of current need.
- Support new staff with their induction
- Supervision of support workers, as advised by your manager.
- Family contact is regularly made
- Information for reviews is prepared in a timely manner and well presented.

4. Actively support the planning and implementation of rota systems to ensure adequate staffing levels are in place, proactively resolving any shortfalls and reporting these if required.

5. Under the direction of the manager, co-ordinate all matters relating to medication, ensuring all procedures are rigorously followed and all support staff are appropriately trained. All and any concerns to be reported to the Deputy Manager in the absence of the Registered Manager.

6. Promote positive internal communication and supportive working relationships with the people support. All queries received are followed through within a reasonable time or meeting the timeframe set.

7. Support staff to maintain strong communication and professional relationships with purchasers, health professionals, other agencies, relatives, and neighbours.
