Cambridge, United Kingdom The Royal Society of Chemistry Full time

Overview:
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has an excellent opportunity for an Editorial Assistant to join us on a temporary basis for eighteen months.

The RSC invests in educating future generations of scientists. We raise and maintain standards. We partner with industry and academia, promoting collaboration and innovation. We advise governments on policy, and we promote the talent, information and ideas that lead to great advances in science. In the UK, we are the largest non-governmental funder of chemistry education, and we influence government policy to ensure that opportunities to develop skills meet the unique needs of chemistry. We believe that everyone should have access to a high-quality chemistry education which is engaging, inspiring and relevant, and that good science education starts in primary school.

Our Education Platforms, Publishing and Products team works closely with other education-focused teams at the RSC to provide relevant and useful advice, resources, and practical support to educators and their students in schools, colleges and universities.

In this Editorial Assistant role you will support our Education Platforms, Publishing and Products team by providing editorial support for our _Education in Chemistry_ magazine and teaching resources. You will also provide day-to-day customer service around our offering and administrative support, including monthly reporting, setting up meetings and supporting financial processes. Working with colleagues across our wider teams you will contribute to the success of our programmes and support for chemistry teachers.

You will have:

- Excellent written English and communication skills.
- Great interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to customer service.
- Some experience of proofreading, editing or digital content management.
- The ability to cultivate and maintain positive relations with customers and other stakeholders.
- Strong interest in science education and outreach, along with some knowledge of UK and Irish education systems.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing demands and workload.

As an organisation we are embracing hybrid working, and homeworking/remote working within the UK could be considered for this role. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend our Cambridge UK office as needed for their role, with some travel for meetings, events and conferences expected.
