**Hours: 18 to **37.5 hours per week (negotiable) - Monday to Friday between 09:00 to 17:00

**Salary**:£10 an hour or £19,500 Per Annum Pro Rata (37.5 hours)

Main Purpose of the Post
Age Cymru West Glamorgan is a local charity, promoting wellbeing, helping people to age well and live independently. As the Senior Home Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping us to achieve our mission by being part of an innovative new project, which will focus on providing adaptive support that puts the client at the heart of everything we do. Your role will be crucial to helping older people in your local community to maintain their independence.

This role will be to provide services directly to clients, in their own homes. You will undertake needs assessments for the client to ensure they receive the support they need, communicating this to the Home Support Workers. This role will involve supervising Home Support Workers and spot checking the quality of their delivery. As a Senior Home Support Worker, you will use your experience to provide advice and guidance to Home Support Workers to ensure we deliver the best possible service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
1. To carry out a variety of tasks in our clients’ homes, supporting the client to live independently and helping to promote a positive and safe living environment.

2. Tasks will include cleaning, doing laundry and ironing, preparing meals, rotating food stock etc. Providing person centered services such as companionship or befriending and sitting services, and any other general tasks deemed reasonable (as requested by the client), with the exception of personal care.

3. To supervise a team of Home Support Workers on a daily basis.

4. To supervise the delivery of the Home Support Service appropriately, ensuring it meets our clients’ needs whilst monitoring performance.

5. To produce effective, efficient, and person-centered home support plans for our clients, based on their individual requirements.

6. To respond to our clients in a respectful and caring manner.

7. To be aware of good personal and food hygiene practices and to adhere to Food Safety and Hygiene regulations.

8. To use all relevant equipment in such a way as to ensure the operator’s own safety and the safety of all other persons in the home.

9. To support the Chief Officer in the recruitment and supervision of Home Support Workers.

10. To work with the Chief Officer to identify the training needs of staff, including ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Data Protection and Confidentiality.

11. To ensure the service is delivered in line with our policies and procedures.

12. To support the administrative team in maintaining accurate client data, including updating office-based staff in the event of any changes to client records.

13. To ensure staff are appropriately matched with clients, in line with their needs and requirements.

14. To report any safeguarding concerns via the appropriate channels and in line with our procedures.

15. To participate in supervision and appraisals in accordance with Age Cymru West Glamorgan’s policies and procedures.

16. To work in a flexible manner, to adapt and accommodate the needs of the organisation.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance for work purposes is essential.

**Person Specification**

**Education Qualifications**
- Good standard of education to at least GCSE or NVQ equivalent and suitably qualified to undertake the tasks
- Willingness to undertake further training and development as deemed necessary.

**Technical Competence**
- Experience of working with I.T. systems such as Microsoft Outlook, and customer databases.

**Essential Knowledge and Experience**
- Experience complying with Health and Safety procedures
- Two or more years’ experience in Health and Social Care
- Able to undertake needs assessments (full training provided)
- Experience effectively managing a demanding and ever-changing workload.
- Understanding of the needs of clients with disabilities
- Understanding of the changing needs of older people
