Senior Library Assistant

Cambridge University Library's Reader Services Division is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and customer-focused library colleague to an interesting and varied role. With a dedication to delivering a high standard of customer service, you will guide and advise a wide range of Cambridge academics, students, and visitors, in person and remotely.
This post is full-time and is on duty from Tuesdays through to Saturdays.
Duties will include providing a welcoming first point of contact to the Library's readers and visitors; the accurate operation of the Library's automated system to carry out all aspects of circulation services; documenting procedures and ensuring effective internal communication; updating library guides and webpages; dealing with general enquiries. The Library offers teaching to different user groups; you will be comfortable with public speaking.
This role will help support the Research and Information Services Team Leader, working in a team of full and part-time staff. You will enjoy providing direction and assistance to the Library, whilst supporting, improving, and promoting our high service standards. You will be assisting in the overseeing of the provision of a responsive service to all who use the Library and will have a proven ability to be flexible to the changing needs of a service.
You will be pro-active and comfortable with allocating tasks to colleagues to ensure user needs are satisfied. Along with being a supportive and motivating colleague to work alongside, you will have had experience of producing and updating staff training materials.
Your positive attitude towards working in a dynamic environment will help to ensure that the Division's aims are met. You will be confident in collecting data that assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure an efficient and effective service is delivered.

This post is part of the Research and Information Services team, a part of the wider Reader Services division. The postholder can be assigned to any aspect of the Division's work.
