**About the role**

The role is a key part of the Data, Technology & Procurement team in Legal & Business Affairs, and you would develop a records management policy, working alongside our Data Protection Manager on related information governance issues. It offers a varied caseloaddue to the changing nature of our business, the shift from print to digital, and from products to services, and also the international reach of our work as part of a global organisation with offices in over 50 countries.

We're a founding catalyst member of Lawyers for Net Zero, and a member of LawWorks (a UK charity working to connect volunteer lawyers with people in need of legal advice, who are not eligible for legal funding), aswell as having our own Wellbeing and Green groups within the department and being key contributors to the organisation's sustainability strategy.

**What will you do in this role?**

In this role, you will report to the Assistant General Counsel - Data, Technology & Procurement.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Establishing a records management framework and strategy for the organisation to comply with legislative requirements, including data protection and freedom of information.
- Develop, implement and oversee the publication of records management policies which support business requirements providing a framework to guide and support staff in the management of records and use of records systems including Retention Policies and Schedules.
- Encourage professional best practice records management procedures across the organisation through staff guidance training and advocacy.
- Establish professional record keeping practices through representation and engagement on key governance bodies including, but not restricted to IT, Legal, Ofqual and Archive governance committees.
- Provide advice on and respond to legal and regulatory issues and requests in areas such as the freedom of information and data protection, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other international or regional legislation as appropriate.

**About you**

We don't mind which university you went to or where you trained. While we give an indication in the job description of desired experience in relevant roles as a guide, we're keen to hear about different experience which would make you a strong addition toour team.

You will need to have a recognised postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records Management and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of record keeping principles and best practice, in addition to a sound knowledge of applicable standards suchas ISO15489 and ISO30301.

You should have substantial recent experience establishing a records management framework with hybrid and born digital records in a complex organisation. You should have a successful track record of implementing and monitoring significant change to recordsmanagement policies, practices and procedures.

Along with sound records management expertise, you will need to be highly self-motivated with strong organisation skills and communicate effectively, providing expert guidance at a time and in a way that enables business colleagues to achieve their objectives.Whatever you are working on, you will be able to deliver your own initiatives and projects in a way that inspires confidence, as well as working collaboratively with others in the team and the wider organisation.

**Location**

You do not need to live in or near Cambridge. We like getting together in the office where it makes sense, but we also support hybrid working. Being in the office will be a decision based on your and the team's needs, not on perception. We'll give you thetools you need to do your job wherever that may be.
